Certified Empathic Intervision Facilitation Training

Take Empathic Intervision facilitation into your professional practice

When co-workers rise above misunderstanding and tunnel vision, they can embrace diversity in all of its manifestations and guide the co-creation of solutions through self-knowledge, mutual appreciation, creativity and understanding.

This training guides you to become a certified Empathic Intervision facilitator. You will be able to establish an Empathic Intervision habit within your organization, in other organisations, or with diverse groups. You will facilitate teams to use empathy to identify opportunities and co-create solutions to challenges.

In Empathic Intervision, colleagues come together to explore situations, questions and problems with an intent to learn from each other, improve expertise and co-evolve new insights to tackle professional difficulties.

Empathy is a competency. Training and practice can improve our empathic muscles. To train empathy, we developed the process of Empathic Intervision. In order to master it, one needs to distinguish the different aspects involved. During an Empathic Intervision, we train five distinct but interconnected aspects of empathy with five behavioural consequences:

  • Self-empathy and intention setting
  • Kinesthetic empathy and connecting with others
  • Reflective empathy and mutual understanding
  • Imaginative empathy and diversifying perspectives
  • Empathic creativity and actionable outcomes

What you will learn

This course covers an understanding of, and practical skills to facilitate empathy in intervision and how to guide others to apply these skills in a group. It also helps you to develop ways to hold a space conducive for colleagues to interact constructively with each other.

Skills you will come away with

You will come away with your own empathic skills as well as practical knowledge on how to facilitate empathy in children and teens. These skills are specific to the five distinct and interconnected empathic aspects listed above.

General facilitation skills

To take part in the process without being part of it, maintaining a view of the outcome of a meeting and guiding the process but refraining from directing it.

Facilitation skills specific to the phases of Empathic intervision

  • In Self-empathy you learn to be comfortable with the expression of emotions while maintaining neutral emotionality yourself.
  • In Kinesthetic empathy you learn observation skills and how to create group cohesion using physicality rather than thought.
  • In Reflective empathy you learn skills of empathic listening and how to help a group to create a container for self expression of all its members.
  • In Imaginative empathy you learn skills to understand, acknowledge the value of and encourage diversity. This includes skills to suspend judgment and encourage others free from your own projections, values, norms and opinions.
