Self-empathy: Practice in Dyads

While it can seem daunting to practise something new , it certainly is the best way to learn. Now that you have had some experience with Self-empathy practice, it is time to give it a try yourself – to practise together in dyads.

  1. Connect with your empathy buddy and set a moment to practise together.
  2. Discuss together the elements of self-empathy practice. What are the four elements of self-empathy and what are they supposed to do?
  3. Take turns to practise a Self-empathy exercise with each other. You can use one of the exercises we offer , or you can come up with your own, keeping in mind the elements of self-empathy.
  4. Evaluate together:
    • What was the experience like and what did you learn from it?
    • How does self-empathy facilitate carving an inner space to empathise with others?
    • Is there anything that stood out for you and you’d like to discuss with us in the next session? If so, please let us know.
